What is Skills in Action?
At Q Shelter, we know that working in the affordable housing and homelessness sector means working with people and that our actions have lasting effects on others' wellbeing. As such, we are committed to providing learning opportunities that leave you with actionable takeaways.
Our thought leaders draw on a range of knowledge bases, from lived experience to sector leadership and everything in between.
From 16-27 August, we will host 11 online events on a range of topics including the rise of citizen-led responses to homelessness, values-driven branding, and the ways homelessness impacts LGBTIQ+ popoulations. Learn more about the topics covered.

Are these sessions for me?
Each session has been curated to cater for:
🏚️ People working in the homelessness and affordable housing sector (from front-line workers to operations and CEOs)
🏚️ People with lived experience of homelessness or housing stress
🏚️ Community members who share our vision of seeing every Queenslander with a home
🏚️ Students wanting to broaden their understanding of the sector and see how knowledge can be translated into real-world skills

Accessibility
Over the past 18 months we have seen (along with many hardships) a silver lining to the pandemic in the rise of online learning opportunities and the chance to collaborate with people outside our usual networks.
Skills in Action has been developed as a wholly online conference to allow as many people as possible to attend. We are committed to increasing quality learning opportunities for those living in regional and remote areas, and are excited to be delivering an entire program of online events.
We do not want cost to be a barrier, and have priced sessions accordingly. Students and people with lived experience can register for free.
For member and non-member ticket prices, visit our website to learn more.
