QLD SACS/CASH TPEO Pay Tables Update

Only applicable for QLD organisations that are party to the TPEO.

Good morning

As you are aware, Jobs Australia regularly uploads various Pay Tables onto its website which may be of relevance to Members. Jobs Australia does so as part of its commitment to assist Members with understanding and satisfying their workplace relations obligations.

Importantly, Jobs Australia makes it clear whenever it uploads a Pay Table that the table is for general information purposes only and should not be relied upon. Further, Jobs Australia expressly advises that the Pay Table is a guide and may be subject to change. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of each Jobs Australia Member to ensure it is satisfying its minimum pay obligations to its staff.

On 4 July 2020, the QLD SACS/CASH TPEO Pay Table was uploaded onto the Jobs Australia website applying a 1.75% increase.

The FWO does not provide individual pay guides for the TPEO QLD Regulation and DIV 2B QCSCA, so all figures are checked on an individual pay point entry using the FWO Pay Calculator when updating the Pay Tables.

On 30 July 2020, a correction was made and the QLD SACS/CASH TPEO Pay Table was amended and loaded onto the Jobs Australia website without the 1.75% increase.

This was in line with Jobs Australia's standard process whereby Pay Tables are corrected when we receive advice from FWO or we note a correction ourselves. We seek to immediately update the Pay Tables on the website as soon as a required change is identified.

We also seek to promptly advise Members of any change to a Pay Table via an eDM. Unfortunately, that did not occur on this occasion.

Subsequently, on 23 December 2020, the application of the Equal Remuneration Order (ERO) was applied and the new Pay Table uploaded. This change was announced via an eDM to all Members.

Following the uploading of this table in December, a small number of Members have contacted Jobs Australia to raise the concern they were unaware of the change that was made to the QLD SACS/CASH TPEO Pay Table on 30 July 2020 and therefore they may have been overpaying staff for the past few months.

This is deeply regrettable and we have been working closely with those Members to try to assist them to resolve any issues.

We are therefore writing today to alert all Members who pay their staff in accordance with the QLD SACS/CASH TPEO Pay Table of the change that occurred on 30 July 2020 and to double-check whether they are paying their staff in accordance with the correct rates. We would be happy to assist with this if necessary.

Likewise, if a Member has not been using the correct Pay Table, please contact the Workplace Relations team and your request will be prioritised and attended to immediately.

As part of its commitment to continuous improvement, Jobs Australia has reviewed the situation and will be taking the following steps:
  • Jobs Australia will be reviewing its communication process to try to ensure all updates are provided to Members in a timely fashion via an eDM and not just relying on a website update.
  • Jobs Australia has committed to a full assessment of the process for preparation of the Pay Tables including the checking mechanism to try to ensure an optimum process is in place.
  • Jobs Australia is undertaking a comprehensive analysis of the CRM to try to ensure all Members contact details are correct so that Members receive appropriate information in a timely manner.
  • Finally, a website upgrade is in place to provide a contemporary platform whereby the pay tables will be far more visible and access simplified.
If any Member would like to discuss any of the above further, please do not hesitate to the Workplace Relations team at Jobs Australia on 1800 331 915.
